Most of us are religious at heart, which to an extent, makes us spiritual too, but religiousness and spirituality although inter-connected and complementary to each other, stand different in a certain way.

A person could be spiritual without being religious or vice-versa, it entirely depends on how the mind is programmed and perceives matters from its point of view. So, a person offering namaz three times a day or a Christian going to church everyday can still encounter problems pertaining to spiritual growth, owing to multiple factors like for eg- understanding of the subject itself, perception, habitual and dogmatic rituals, fear or ignorance. It does disturb a person’s peace of mind, but the reason seems to be eluding in this scenario, making a person frustrated for no apparent reason. It has been observed that most of the human race, always looks up to a spiritual leader, or Guru in this aspect, which when / if goes wrong at any level, shakes the basic faith of the person concerned, causing more damage than anticipated, turning a person bitter both on the inside and the outside. One needs to be careful enough while following the path of any Dharma, as long as it falls in-line with the intrinsic Dharma of the Soul and its Karmic journey.
